I've been fascinated with taxidermy ever since I saw my primary schools modest taxidermy collection, which was just a small diorama in a glass case on a shelf. The thought of having an animal to touch and study seemed really cool to me! Ever since my primary school days having a mount had been a dream of mine. In my late teens I got really interested in skulls, and for a few years I only collected skulls, since in many cases they were cheaper (ignore that I bought a horse skull as one of my first skulls). My first mount (my raccoon dog) I found in a thrift store for 40€. It was extremely dusty and not the best mount but I was happy to have it in my house! After that basically all my mounts were found in thrift stores, aside from the wood grouse which I bought online and drove a couple hours to pick up. My skulls are a pretty even mix of online and irl.
My favorites of each collection are my pine marten and my tiger skull (named Cinnamon)! Though I do love my horse skull (Rosie)...
